How I Conquered My Calendar During Quarantine

In my search to find a way to be a mom and still pursue my dreams, I discovered the lovely Lisa Canning aka The Possibility Mom. At the time she was a mom of 7, pregnant with her 8th baby, and she was showing the world that moms can have it all (but not necessarily by doing it all!). Not only was she doing this herself but she was helping other moms do it too! I admired her enthusiasm, empathy and genuineness. I started following her inspiring journey.

Conquering Quarantine

Fast forward to April 2020, I signed up for her Conquer Your Calendar Course. It was 3 weeks into being quarantined and it seemed like I had all the time in the world, yet I wasn’t using it in the most effective way. I mean you would think it was easy right? But I needed some specific tools to help me. And boy, did she give me some pretty wonderful tools.

I fell in love with the course immediately and I use most of the techniques. The ones I am not fully using right now are the ones I am working on. But the material stayed with me.

Here is a list of 5 things I loved about the CYC course:

1. It Showed Me My Priority Expectation vs Reality

One of the first things the CYC course does is help you examine what matters to you in life. The entire first module helps to identify your priorities and provide clarity on your unique purpose.

During this, I realised that in my mind, I had my priorities ranked in a certain way but my actions didn’t reflect this. My first priority should have been my physical, mental and spiritual health, but I was putting those things at the very bottom of the list. Everything seemed more important than working out or taking some much-needed me-time.

One thing Lisa emphasises is that you can’t give from a place of depletion. It’s so true, you need to nourish yourself first.

This course also made me think about what I want my legacy to be. And if you want to put your priorities in perspective, think about what you want to be remembered for.

2. The Worksheets and Tools are Brilliant

Maybe it’s the engineer (pseudo-engineer at this point. Lol) in me and the fact that step-by-step points, worksheets, and scoreboards jazz me up, but I do think they are brilliant in the way they are laid out. It helps to cement the content by putting the theory into practice.

And who doesn’t love checking tasks off? Check!

3. It is Easy to Follow

Lisa breaks things down in a way that is so comprehensive yet engaging. You can’t help but watch lesson after lesson. She’s not joking when she says that you can binge-watch the lessons like a Netflix series. I finished the entire course in a week!

Despite being fed a lot of information, you will never feel an overload. Instead you feel energised and inspired. Heck, I feel like I will go through the course a second and third time, in case there were any easter eggs I missed! Lol! Oh, did I mention you get lifetime access to the content?

4. It Helps You Build Great Habits

Over the last two years, I have become an online course junkie. But there have been a few courses that have impacted my life greatly. The CYC course is definitely in my top 3.

I rate it so highly based on how easily I was able to implement the content. And by no means does my use of “easily” mean it was easy. It takes a lot of effort to form certain habits, especially  good ones. But like I said before, I have implemented almost all the habits put forward by Lisa. The others I am working hard on because I do believe that they will help me achieve my goals. What was amazing to me was how motivated I was to build these habits.

Once I ranked my priorities, it became easy to figure out my daily, weekly and monthly activities. It may not always work out perfectly, but it is always in the forefront of my mind.

5. You Get All The Support You Need

But I didn’t have to do it on my own. When you do the CYC course, you gain access to the CYC Facebook group. There, you can connect with Lisa and other calendar conquerors for feedback and support. The community is the best part about it all.

Lisa doesn’t leave you to figure things out on your own. She is genuinely enthusiastic about helping persons achieve their goals. She is even more passionate about it for moms who feel like they have to give up on their dreams. Lisa makes you see that it doesn’t have to come even an iota close to that.

And the first step is to conquer your calendar…

So whether you want to find time for date night, get rid of mom-guilt (or parent-guilt for that matter) or just get some time to reboot, the CYC course can help. It is worth the investment for you to have “more joy, less overwhelm and more freedom!”

P.S. Another thing I worked on with Lisa is in her Future Full of Hope Vision Board Workshop. It helped me use the CYC tools even more. She is about to launch the second one on June 15th! Click here for details!
